What you must bring:
Becoming a homeowner in France requires specific documents:
Your passport is the principal document (do make copies), also the original or certified copies of your birth, marriage and/or divorce certificates, and all documents relating to your identity.
Usually a deposit isn't necessary immediately and is normally 10% of the price of the house. It will need to be paid after the 7 days 'cooling off' period which is legally obligatory in France.
Later, if and when you decide to open a bank account in Euros, you will need your passport, the last three months bank statements and your income tax return.
